Romantic alleyways in the lovingly restored old town, the dome cathedral or the Merseburger Zaubersprüche (Merseburgian Magic Spells) - the oldest piece of German writing, originating in the 10th century. A tour alon the Saale river cycling path brings relaxation.
In close proximity are the Händel-city Halle an der Saale and the university city of Leipzig. Both worth a visit.
